The Puberty Pals

"Hilarious"

submission: The Puberty Pals
date: September 20, 2005

One of the funniest movies I've ever seen here on NG. Even the graphics alone were funy, and along with the really good scripting and voices it was perfect.

I just wish it was a bit longer. Another minute or so and this would have graced the top 100, as it is you'll be lucky to get in.

Application Fun!

"ragdoll was good"

submission: Application Fun!
date: September 19, 2005

This was a fun submission, there was a lot to explore.

Paint thing) Pretty boring. Everyone has paint which is a lot better. It's pointless

Ball thing) Very simple actionscript, also quite boring to play

Ragdoll) This was by far the best. However there still wasn't much to do. My suggestion would be to work on this one and make more of a game out of it (without seeming too much like a rip-off of Interactive Buddy).

So nothing amazing in here, but enough of it to make a good submission. Nice work.

TAP fight to the sausage

"Nice concept, sketchy gameplay"

date: September 18, 2005

It was a really well presented game with a good concept. The artwork and animation was fantastic, even the sound was pretty good.

But the gameplay wasn't so great. I didn't like the way you couldn't actually move. And just hammering one of the attack buttons won any battle with ease. This needs a lot of work.

But overall it's a good submission, 4/5

"Amazing"

submission: Rainbowsphere: N.E

I saw this on NG yesterday and didn't think twice about not playing it. I dom't like these kind og games, I find them boring. But as it got a daily place, I though I'd give it a go.

At first it was just what I expected- simple graphics, standard sound (annoyingly without an off button), simple concept. But as it went on it became impressive. The level design is fantastic, and the level of precision is unbelievable.

I kept wanting to stop playing but there'd be something to stop me- for example when I finished l13 I hovered over the Close button then saw the lava and had to have a try. The level variation was very good.

Then comes the boss. Loved it, took me a LOT of attempts but I got it. Then there was the escape level which was also excellent but sadly I just couldn't do it, maybe this should have been split up into smaller parts.

In terms of improvements, there are quite a few. A save system would be nice, I'd like to have been able to try Escape again another day. Sound off button. The graphics don't need to be great here but there is room for improvement. On the next game maybe you could bring colour mixing into the gamplay (like becoming orange means you can survive yellow and red blocks). You could also become white/black/brown etc.

Very good, 5/5

Author's Response:

You can turn of the sound by pressing S

Thanks for the nice comments, i dont see why people think the escape scene is so hard though

Crizzle dungeon

"Could be good."

submission: Crizzle dungeon
date: September 13, 2005

You say you want this to be one of the best games on NG. Well it's possible, at a big stretch. I enjoyed this version, but there's still work to do.

The graphics were very good and i liked the way it was 3Dish but it was almost wasted because it often just looked weird. I'd constantly appear behind forground objects and in front of background objects. Depths can be a nightmare I know, but you really need to fix them.

The gameplay was good, but a bit unoriginal, I didn't see anything I hadn't before. Combat was weak, you need some level of combos and a range of attacks.

I didn't like the controls, they confused me. I'd prefer it if action and attack were the same button. Jumping didn't feel quite right either. The sound was average.

I hope the final game has some form of story. I know this is a demo but I dropped it from 9 to 8 because of the ending, the game just froze after the swing-chain room (or maybe this was a bug, I don't know).

I hope this review doesn't come across as negative, I really liked the game, reminded me of a show called Knightmare. I hope you put a lot of effort in the final game because it could be a classic.

Unmentionable Auction

"Better"

date: September 13, 2005

That's more like it, a movie worthy of a decent score. Ok so it STILL didn't change much of the formula, I'm still eagerly waiting for something a bit different, but at least this had a lot of effort put in with many good backgrounds/animations. The script was up to its usual wit. 5/5.

Jak 3: Gold Edition

"Excellent"

date: September 7, 2005

One of the 10 ten games I've played on NG, I'd set it at 4.10 if I could, but at least you got the Daily Second.

Other than a few bugs which have already been mentioned, the game was just about perfect all round. Must have taken AGES to make. Really well done.

Author's Response:

took a bit more than a year. Though I took about half a year's break from it and flash so its more like 7 months development, but still pretty long. Thanks

Lines Classic

"MOST AMAZING GAME EVER!!!!"

submission: Lines Classic
date: September 6, 2005

Sorry, couldn't resist the sarcastic review title. But it was a decent game, had that rare proffesional look about it. I haven't seen a game like this before (well I guess Clines is similar). It was really easy to pick up but challenging to play. The options added replayability. I scored 100, not great ^_^

Did lack on thrill value, I think I'd like it more if a new circle appeared at set time intervals. Also sometimes lines of 5 formed by chance but didn't register. Optional music would be nice, and extra features like bombs (sorry just copying the reviewer before me).

4/5

3D Frogger

"Impresssive"

submission: 3D Frogger
date: September 3, 2005

People underestimate how advanced a 3d Flash game is. I don't mean Swift-level 3d, proper stuff like this. Flash is technically not capable of 3d. Games that break the rules like this are exceptionally good.

I'm not a frogger fan, so I didnt expect to spend to long on this. But its addictive! I got a few frogs in the holes.

I have no criticisms at all, realizing that varying levels is not really an option here. The only think that made me give this a 9 not a 10 is that Frogger is an unoriginal idea, even though you've put a great personal slant on it.
