Funny

This is really funny, I could play for ages.

Not sure if it'll score well cause the graphics and coding are both pretty basic. But the concept is great, and you chose good words - I didn't get a single excuse that didnt make me at least smile.

Nice one, 8/10

Glutton responds:

thanks for the review...yeah the graphics were kinda different when it went to NG. the words were kinda hard to read to as they got squashed up a little...

Not bad, not brilliant

Currently the highest scoring game at NG, so I was kind of expecting more. But it was still pretty fun for a while.

The graphics can't really get much credit, they're not exactly amazing. But it has a striking look to it and they work well enough.

Some pretty nice physics here, circle collision detection isn't easy and here it was perfect.

Tbh I'm a bit sick of base defending games, and this didn't move far enough away from the cliches in my opinion. And like many of them, it progressed too slowly. I had no intention of replaying after I died.

Don't want to sound too critical though, it has a lot going for it and is well worth checking out. 7/10.

Nice game, major bug though

I was enjoying this unil about level 4 when I went right through the wall on the right and couldn't reset. I know that bugs like these can be hard to avoid, but you should ALWAYS have some kind of reset button just in case.

Seeing as I didn't get very far I can't comment much on variety, but up the point i reached it was already starting to feel repetitive.

Still, good simple idea, nice physics, fantasitic graphics and easy to control. I like it a lot, I'd go 9/10 if it wasn't for that bug.

Ps, to the reviewer below me, there IS a music off button in the top right!

Could work

Not seen something like this before, it's a decent idea. I think the best thing you could do would be to add AI. Most people browse NG on their own, and will blam this because they can't play it. Some idiots will probably even complain that nothing happens, most of us expect a 1-player game.

AI wouldn't be too hard. You just need the enemy ship to constantly move towards you when it's chasing, and move away when it's escaping (both with some level of randomness, possibly variable depending on the level difficulty). It'd be easier to do if you add walls instead if screen looping.

The controls were annoying too. I didn't like how the ship had constant acceleration in one direction, yes I know it's realistic, but it'd be more satisfying to play if it decceralated over time.

Graphics were pretty good. The sound annoyed me though, that 'hehe' noise was funny at first but soon got very very annoying.

I'm forgetting the game as I write this so I'll leave it there, but it's a good premise that just needs a little more. I think this deserves a 2.3 but will probably get lower than that due to the 2-player only thing. Hope it survives though ^_^

Cool idea, but...

I like the idea, it's so sick that it could have worked. But I think it needs to be more violent, the cocks n balls really need to splat when they're shot. The sound effects could be much better too.

The game itself isn't varied enough. Point n shoots are so unoiriginal that they need something special to stand out, the concept here helped, but it still needs something more.

I wouldn't minds seeing a version 2, I reckon you could pull this off. Keep at it.

CloseToGhost responds:

Thanks!
I really hate coding, this was just a balloon shooting template I altered.
If I had the know-how, there would be different balls and dicks, different impacts, different splats and sounds.
The point system would be better..
With a scoreboard and awards..
But I don't know how.. so I just did what I could with the template.
:)

Pretty good shooter

A well made game, enjoyable to play for a bit. But by level 4 I got bored, I think it should change more often. In the 4 stages I played the enemies were exactly the same. THere were some planes, but when I missed one nothing happened so I'm not sure what they were about. And I saw pacman once which was pretty funny.

As people have said weapon upgrades might be a possible upgrade here, not a lot of variety for upgrades other than more power though. Maybe you could add some explosives like grenades for use when there's too much on screen.

Graphically it look great. No major problems with the gameplay. 4/5.

Fun for a while

I was a bit disappointed when this loaded because I already played it the other day, guess I played it at another site. Not gonna mark you down for that.

But what I will mark it down for: The basic attacking is very repetitive. The knight just swings his sword in a slightly odd way. It just didn't feel like you were actually slashing up the boys, which hurt the overall effect. The physics didn't feel right, everthing was a bit floppy, maybe the gravity wasn't always strong enough.

But otherwise I like it, fairly entertaining slashing fun. The concept is pretty original, and funny. All the upgrades and things gave it a bit of longetivity, I could probably play this for a long while if I had the time. Great graphics, particularly on the background. Some really good Flash work here, I don't think I've played your work before but I'll certainly be going to have a look at your back catalogue. 8/10.

Good tetris remake

A perfectly good Tetris remake. Crisp clean graphics, smooth gameplay, simple controls. The choice of background and music was a nice touch.

But this loses points for unoriginality. Surprised you couldn't find a decent Tetris on Newgrounds because I've definelty played a few here. Some say that making a good game is 90% ideas and 10% everything else, which wouldn't bode well for this.

As the maker of Gravoor you've got nothing to prove so it's cool if you want to make stuff like this. But I like to see fresh ideas myself.

Chris responds:

I know this is unoriginal. i mean hell its tetris, its been on every gaming system ever made =P

I have a few better ideas i'm working on, more original. keep an eye out

Some people will like it

Probably wont score well because of the limited audience, but I like it a lot. Gyln's my second fave HM (still want pete to win!).

This'd be much better if you could change the hairstyle as well. At least between the two styles he had in the house.

Also, 'brilliant' and 'gutted' got annoying, I think it should have more SFX.

Good though, made me laugh.

Funky

Pretty impressive stuff, and fun to play about with. The graphics were great and went perfectly with the music.

Few suggestions:

-Just a basic counter in the bottom to show which effect you're on. I think I counted 40 effects here, it could just say 21/40 or whatever effect you're on.

-Maybe a chocie of background would be good here and add replay value. I mean if you had 25 backgrounds that's 1000 different combinations, which'd keep people busy for ages!

-To save the need for keyboard, maybe clicking the mouse could move to the next effect?

-Colour change seemed to be random, I like that, but maybe there's could also be a a button to instantly change the colour.

Good Flash though, 8/10.

tnx for the suggestions!
